Answer: We offer free 30-minute consultation calls so we can get a better sense of you, your goals, and what working together could look like.

Answer: We totally get it. Finding the right modality and therapist to work alongside you is crucial to achieving your goals. We are 100% honest about whether or not we're the best fit to help you, which is why we set aside a large chunk of time to really listen to you before scheduling a first session. There are many therapists in Boulder County and Colorado, and we have amazing referrals if we know someone who would be better aligned to support you.

Do you take insurance?
Answer: Our practice is considered an out-of-network provider. However, some insurance companies will reimburse you for a percentage of meetings depending on your plan and deductible. We are happy to provide a "superbill" that you can submit to insurance for partial or full coverage. We also accept all major credit cards and HSA cards.

Should you see a psychotherapist or a psychologist?

Answer: Although both psychotherapists and psychologists provide mental health counseling, psychologists assist with psychological testing and evaluation and have a stronger background in research and clinical assessment. For instance, a psychologist might be a better choice for a client healing from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) because they can offer comprehensive assessments to better diagnose them. Therapists and psychologists can work in many environments, such as clinics, organizations or in private practice.

In order to become a mental health counselor, licensed professional counselor, or licensed social worker, you must have a master's degree from an accredited university. To be a licensed psychologist, you must have your doctorate.


There are other licenses that both therapists and psychologists can hold if they have additional experience and documented clinical hours in a certain modality. For instance, a licensed addiction counselor in Colorado must take additional courses and also have 3000 more client hours than a licensed professional counselor. A licensed marriage and family therapist has the same requirements as a licensed professional counselor, but their clinical focus is on helping couples and families that are struggling with relationship issues and family dynamics.

Modalities such as Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (legal in Colorado) can be performed by a psychotherapist or a psychologist in tandem with a psychiatric nurse practitioner or other licensed prescriber.
